Martha Reyes
Martha Reyes is a proud immigrant from Mexico who moved to the United States at the age of 13. She has made Tucson her home for the past 23 years, where she has raised her 12-year-old daughter, Ximena, who was born with the blood disorder Sickle Cell Disease. Since Ximena's diagnosis, Martha has become a dedicated advocate for those affected by the disease, tirelessly working to raise awareness and provide support for the community.
In October of 2024, Martha and Ximena's advocacy efforts led to the proclamation of October as Sickle Cell Awareness Month in the City of Tucson. Their work was later recognized in December, when they received the prestigious Care in Action Women Who Care Award for their outstanding contributions to the community.
A graduate of Pueblo High School and a continuing learner through Pima Community College, Martha has a strong foundation in research and data entry. Her professional journey also includes significant experience working and volunteering with numerous community-based organizations.
Currently she works for a non-profit organization, where she brings her deep passion for serving the community, along with a wide range of skills that contribute to her role in creating positive change. Martha’s commitment to advocacy, empowerment, and community development drives her every day as she works to build a more inclusive and supportive environment for all
